suitable for building, it is difficult to say that the claim

is unreasonable.

Sir Robert Jardine's representatives are, how-

ever, sensible of the great need for an increased area for recreation purposes, and they are willing, on his behalf, to surrender the lot to Government in order that it may be added to the playing grounds which are already in existence in the Sookunpoo Valley, on the following terms:-

(i).

Payment of a sum of $8,000 to be made by

Government.

(ii). An extension to be granted of the leases of Garden Lots 2 and 38 as shown in the following

paragraph.

(iii).

A strong barbed wire fence to be erected by Government along the north-western, south-western, and south-eastern boundaries of Garden Lota 2 and

(iv). The area surrendered to be used for recreation

purposes only.

Garden Lots 2 and 38 as shown on the enclosed

plan contain a total area of a little over six acres. They include tennis courts at the north-western corner of the
